Ten Million Tonnes: a film directed and choreographed by Charlotte
Charlotte directs her first film set to an original score by emerging composer Katya Richardson and performed by former Sadler's Wells Young Associate Christopher Thomas.
As millions of tonnes of plastic continue to be dumped into our oceans and on our beaches, the natural ambience of marine life is disrupted. This disruption jeopardises the whole bio-geo cycle and entire marine eco-systems. Something that once seemed to transform the world for the better is now a common cause of death and despair for marine life through ingestion and entrapment.
Using dance as a medium to personify the physical and emotional state of a marine life, Ten Million Tonnes hopes to raise awareness about the struggle to survive in a world full of plastic.
This film would not have been made without the support and generosity of Arts Council England, Ko Productions and Studio Wayne McGregor.
