The atmosphere in Charlotte's classes lies amongst the most positive and encouraging that I have experienced. Her effective personal feedback and guidance on how to achieve the finest movements were always constructive, especially when we explored the beautiful ideas she produced. I felt that the classes challenged me to leave my comfort zone, break the habit of relying on movements that felt comfortable and instead directing my attention to discover something that felt unnatural. I loved this method of developing curiosity and I learned an enormous amount from this process.

Charlotte's kind spirit was always so enjoyable to learn from and I was so excited by every class we took with her.

- Imogen Murphy Kinder, Oslo National Academy of the Arts. The Royal Ballet School Summer Intensive 2022

A true collaborative artist. Efficient , organised and bursting with ideas. I am thrilled with the work she produced for us and look forward to working with her again.

— Kenneth Tindall, Artistic Director of Digital and Resident Choreographer for Northern Ballet.

Charlotte has now made two wonderful works for our Junior Company dancers: Fuse and Grit. Two works that are very different in mood, but both completely compelling, challenging the dancers and absolute hits with the audience. I love her curiosity and can't wait to see where she goes next!

— Ernst Meisner, Artistiek Coordinator Dutch National Ballet Junior Company

I strongly believe in encouraging and nurturing the next generation of choreographic talent and feel that it is our duty to support the next generation. Charlotte Edmonds joined the Company for the 2015/16 Season as part of the Royal Ballet Young Choreographer Programme mentored by Wayne McGregor and myself. During her time with us, Charlotte gained immense knowledge and inspiration from shadowing and working in the building with so many creative artists, as well as starting to create work herself, with success. Not only did she create work within the Royal Opera House, she branched out into digital platforms, most notably with her film Sink or Swim, and her ability to adapt to the different opportunities was admirable. Charlotte truly immersed herself in the experience and took every opportunity to grow and be involved. Since leaving the programme, Charlotte has had opportunities to work with different companies in the UK and Europe and it is incredibly heartening to see her continued development. Certainly someone to keep watching – I look forward to seeing what the future holds.

— Kevin O’Hare, Director of The Royal Ballet

I got to work with Charlotte one on one and with the entire Junior Company group. The process of creating was super fun and exciting. Charlotte has a very unique and refreshing way of moving that I had never seen before. Charlotte’s way of creating a new choreography is very open-minded and there’s a lot of room for personal style and input. I got to explore different sides of myself that I had never seen or felt before.

— Philippe Magdelijns, Dancer with Dutch National Ballet Junior

Charlotte had strong stimuli to begin the development of Left from Write in the form of detailed visual and academic research. To start a process with such a solid foundation gave everyone involved the freedom to go away and bring back their response to spark conversation. Charlotte established an equal dynamic within the creative team, where we listened to every idea, explored every tangent, and we all had the freedom to suggest new thoughts. The result is Left From Write being a true collaboration; it is the product of everyone involved.

— Ryan Joseph Stafford, Lighting Designer

Working with Charlotte on various projects throughout my career has been a pleasure. She never fails to bring a fresh energy and source of inspiration to her process and work. She has a brilliant ability to work with her dancers, pushing and challenging each one individually to inspire new possibilities, both for themselves and the work. This  leads to a very fruitful experience in the studio for everyone involved.
I have worked with many choreographers for commercial work, though I particularly loved the time I spent working with Charlotte on a campaign film for McFaul+Day. Her ability to translate the directors visions onto us, in an open and collaborative way, led to a cohesive and strong creative team and beautiful end result.

Charlottes commitment, strong work ethic, engaging and light quality in the studio makes her a pleasure to work with every time.

— Emma Farnell Watson, Dancer with Hofesh Shechter

Charlotte is an inspiring young artist to work with in the studio dealing with current issues that face our generation... plastic wastage being the focus of ‘10 Million Tonnes’. She allowed a great space for flow of creativity with a true openness for us to feel safe sharing our ideas to form a collaboration together.

— Nathan Chipps, Dancer with Batsheva Dance Company

I enjoyed the way in which Charlotte challenged me to to take on her style of movement while maintaining my authenticity as an artist. I never felt like I was abandoning myself, but that I was able to tap into another aspect of my own capability. What resonated most with me was the amount of focus on the meaning of the piece throughout the entire creation process. It felt incredibly freeing to perform my solo - I felt so connected to the world we had created on stage and that my solo felt like the outpouring of it all

— Krystal Lowe, Dancer with Ballet Cymru

I've done quite literally hundreds of projects but out of those hundreds, there is a handful that I really think sticks with me. I think my time working on Goldfish will be one of those. It was really freeing to work on a project where the sound and music came together separately but we had each other in mind, so when we put our work together it was pretty remarkable how well it melded to create a cohesive experience. I am a massive fan of John Cage and his work with Merce Cunningham has always been really interesting to me and something I never really understood until this project. Now that I've put sound to movement there is this real link between the two that influences your perception of each other, bodies move in ways we think air may move to create sound, a real fluid experience between the physical and aural. Overall, I think it was a wonderful experience working with Charlotte, the director, and Katya, the composer. I felt Charlotte really trusted us and allowed us to create a meaningful soundscape. I feel very honored to have been a part of this and I hope the audience's experience will be unnerving which will hopefully lead to understanding.

- Ryan Sullivan, Sound Designer. Goldfish Film.

It was a real pleasure and a real nice surprise working with Charlotte. She was really starting out back then but she was already confident and most important she had a clear vision of what she wanted, already she had a distinguished style.
She seemed completely at ease with classical and contemporary trained dancers and she never appeared to be stressed always delivering her ideas clearly and gently.
She created a beautifully elegant duet for James Pett and I that was filmed for the BBC.

— Alessandra Ferri

Charlotte is a creative thinker - she pushes boundaries and engages with challenging themes in each of her projects. As a collaborator, she is very involved and communicative, always inspiring me to deliver my best work. One of our recent pieces, Left From Write, completely redefined my view of genre, sound, and narrative themes in music. The process of developing a musical score together was incredibly interactive and one of my most fulfilling projects to date.

— Katya Richardson, Composer

Working with Charlotte on Left from Write was a delight. I quickly saw that she has a rare creative talent, a classical training but an unfettered and quirky imagination. She is thinking about dance - or through dance - in new ways, and ways that are relevant for her own generation and the challenges of the world around her. Not story so much as ideas, embodied and expressed in dance. She is also, for so young a creator, wonderfully good at positive and rewarding collaboration; generous and open to new ideas wherever they came from. I have every confidence that she will go on to create marvellous new and exciting work and become one of the central voices of her generation.

— Stella Tillyard, Writer

When Charlotte approached me about working on ‘Sink or Swim’ it was like a dream come true. To be able to combine my love of dance and underwater cinematography was an opportunity I’d been hoping for for a long time. It always seemed an ambitious prospect to work with a dancer of Francesca’s caliber on such a project. I was blown away by the professionalism and creativity of all involved. Francesca’s bravery at taking on such a feat, especially given she was not experienced or confident in water. And to watch Charlotte and Louis working together to marry the intricacy of Charlotte’s choreography and concept with the vision which Louis brought to the table was inspiring. The complexity of working this movement between underwater and in studio was, at times, seemingly unachievable. But the determination and artistry Charlotte demonstrated absolutely drove the concept through from a wild idea to an inspired and beautifully moving film.

— Alice Pennefather

What an amazing project to be a part of, it was brilliant to work with such highly talented creatives on this project from DOP to designers and Charlotte herself. One of my favorite parts of the process was working closely with Charlotte in the studio prior to shooting the film, Charlotte was clear about what she wanted to achieve with the movement language of this film which made the creative process a joy taking unpressured time, with her guidance, to find myself in her movement. The studio time was a treasured experience for me making the transference to location seamless with the movement executed well through Charlotte’s direction, fulfilling her creative vision to be captured for screen.

The filming day was one of my favorite shoots to date with all elements of the creative team pushing for excellence, purity, and truth to draw light, the best we can, on the issues/themes inspiring this film. To work with such an accomplished team on this project was a dream and I look forward to working with Charlotte again in the future.

— Christopher Thomas, Dancer and Choreographer

Working on this duet with Charlotte was such a career highlight! The opportunity to dance with Alessandra Ferri and to be artistically challenged by Charlotte was a dream. She is patient, open to individual creativity and yet very much into details... all the qualities of a great choreographer

— James Pett

During our collaboration Charlotte has been highly efficient and dedicated to the vision of our project. She is forward thinking and has an excellent eye for detail. Charlotte is able to create space for all creatives involved in production by allowing them the time to share their knowledge and experience which creates a healthy work environment. She is joy to be around and work with and someone I feel blessed to have crossed paths with.
